How to Add Your Agency to Google Business Profile

Your Google Business Profile is one of the most powerful — and most overlooked — marketing tools your business has. It’s what shows up when someone searches for you on Google Maps, runs a local search, or looks you up before calling. When Profit Path SEO manages your profile, we keep it optimized, updated, and working for you around the clock.

To do that effectively, we need Manager access. This guide walks you through the exact steps — it takes less than 10 minutes and you stay in complete control.

Need help? Call us at (608) 215-8519 and we’ll walk through this with you live.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • You are the Owner of your Google Business Profile (only Owners can invite new Managers)
  • You have the Google account email from Profit Path SEO (your account manager will provide this)
  • You are logged into the Google account tied to your Business Profile

Don’t know if you’re the Owner? Go to Business.google.com — if you can see your listing and edit it, you’re likely the Owner. If you only see limited options, Contact us and we’ll help you sort it out.

Step 1: Open Your Google Business Profile Dashboard

  1. Sign in to the Google account that manages your Google Business Profile.
  2. Search for your business name on Google while signed in.
  3. Your Business Profile management panel will appear at the top of the search results.
  4. In the Business Profile panel, click the three-dot menu (⋮).
  5. From the menu, select Business Profile settings.

Tip:
You don’t need to open a separate Business Profile Manager page. You can access these settings directly from Google Search while signed in to the account that manages the business profile.

Step 2: Navigate to Managers

  1. From your Business Profile management panel, open the three-dot menu (⋮) or the profile settings options.
  2. Select Business Profile settings.
  3. Look for People and access or Managers, depending on the version of the Google Business Profile interface you see.
  4. Open the section showing the people who currently have access to your Business Profile.

You should now see the existing owners and managers associated with the profile.

Tip: Review this list regularly. Only people who need access to your Business Profile should be listed.

Step 3: Invite Profit Path SEO as a Manager

Google Business Profile invite new managers window with the agency email address entered
  1. In the Managers or People and access section, click Add or Invite new users.
  2. An invitation window will appear.
  3. Enter the Google account email address provided by Profit Path SEO.
  4. If Google displays the account as a suggestion, select the correct account.
  5. Double-check the email address before continuing.

Tip: Make sure you use the exact Google account email address provided by your Profit Path SEO account manager. Sending the invitation to the wrong email address will prevent the agency from accessing your Business Profile.

Step 4: Assign the Manager Role

Google allows different levels of access to a Business Profile.

You may see options such as:

  • Owner — Provides the highest level of access and should generally remain with the business owner.
  • Manager — Allows the user to help manage the Business Profile without giving them ownership-level control.

Select Manager

  1. Select Manager.
  2. Review the permissions displayed by Google.
  3. Click Invite or Next, depending on the screen you’re shown.
  4. Confirm the invitation.

Important:
Select Manager, or Owner, when giving Profit Path SEO access to your Business Profile. This gives the agency the access needed to help manage and optimize your profile while allowing you to retain ownership.

Step 5: Invitation Sent — What Happens Next

After you send the invitation:

  1. Google will confirm that the invitation has been sent.
  2. The invited account may appear as Pending until the invitation is accepted.
  3. Profit Path SEO will receive an invitation at the Google account email address you entered.
  4. The agency will accept the invitation.
  5. Once accepted, the account will appear as a Manager or Owner on your Business Profile.

Tip: Let your Profit Path SEO account manager know after you send the invitation so they can check their email and accept the request.
