If you’re a Wisconsin contractor, your contact page is where good leads either turn into a call… or disappear.
Most people don’t fill out a form because they’re excited to do paperwork. They do it because they want a fast answer, a clear next step, and a company they feel good about hiring. If your contact page is hard to use on mobile, asks too many questions, or doesn’t build trust, you’ll get the “maybe later” behavior—people bounce, get distracted, or call the next contractor.
This post gives you the simple fixes that make your contact page convert better (without rebuilding your whole website). You can knock out most of these in an hour.

Free Workshop (April 20):
Master High-Converting Web Strategies
We’ll cover:
- website sections that convert
- what AI is changing in SEO
- AI-assisted lead follow-up
1) Put the phone number first (and make it click-to-call)
Most contractor leads happen on a phone.
Your contact page should start with:
- Call now: (608) 215-8519 (or your number)
- Business hours
- “If we miss you, we’ll call back within X” (only if true)
Mobile rule: if someone has to copy/paste your number, you’re losing leads.
If you’re running ads, this is non-negotiable—your contact page is often the final step after a click: Optimize Your Contractor Ad Strategy
2) Shorten the form (seriously)
Long forms kill conversions.
Best contractor form fields:
- Name
- Phone (or email)
- City / ZIP
- What do you need help with?
That’s it.
If you need more details (timeline, budget, materials), ask after you respond. The goal is to start the conversation.
If your leads are coming in but not getting followed up fast, that’s a system issue—not a marketing issue. A CRM + automation workflow can help: Automate Your Lead Response System
3) Add a “what happens next” section
People hesitate when they don’t know what they’re signing up for.
Add a simple 3-step block right under the form:
- 1. You send your request
- 2. We follow up within X business hours
- 3. We schedule an estimate / call and provide a written scope
This reduces friction and increases form submissions.
4) Give them two ways to reach you (call + form)
Some people won’t call. Some people won’t fill out a form.
Your contact page should offer both, clearly:
- Call now
- Request a quote (form)
Optional (only if you can manage it): text option.
- “Prefer text? Send us a message at (###) ###-####.”
If you do add texting, make sure you can respond quickly—or automate the first response.
5) Add trust right next to the form
A lot of “maybe later” is really: “I’m not sure I trust them yet.”
Add one small trust block beside or under the form:
- 1–2 review snippets
- “Licensed & insured” (if true)
- Service area statement
- Warranty line (if true)
6) Make your service area obvious (Wisconsin-specific)
Add a line like:
- “Serving Sun Prairie, Madison, and surrounding Wisconsin ” Or:
- “Serving Dane County and Columbia ”
This helps the right people contact you—and helps filter the wrong ones.
This also supports local SEO consistency with your Google Business Profile: Align Your Site with Google Business Profile
7) Add a “what we help with” mini list (to reduce wrong leads)
Example: We can help with:
- Roof repair and replacement
- Storm damage inspections
- Gutters and siding
Not sure if it’s a fit? Send a message and we’ll point you in the right direction.
8) Stop sending people to a generic “thanks” page
Your thank-you page should:
- confirm you got it
- set expectations on response time
- give them a next step
